ID: flat coloured full body pixel art of Martin Blackwood from The Magnus Archives in the MAG 170 Lonely mansion. Martin is a fat white man with brown half-long hair with a white streak, and fogged over glasses. He is wearing black trousers, a dark blue raglan sweater, pink socks and dress shoes. He sits, surrounded by low-hanging fog, on an uncomfortable looking wooden chair in an otherwise empty room. The room has a wooden floor and white walls. A single patch of fog hangs higher, and covers Martin's face. On the right of the canvas the artist's signature reads "Moss and Pebble '23". End ID

“(Not) Your Martyr” (2025)
Acrylic on canvas, canvas collage
Approx. 80x80”
This is the second half of the painting assignments I completed this semester. The bigger “sibling” to my previous piece (Not) Your Scapegoat. Both pieces were a continuation of the exploration of my trans identity through a drag alter-ego, in order to dialogue various narratives through semiotic story telling. Inspired by the real world events of the past months, The Martyr serves as a reminder of the uncertainty of the fate of the transgender person in the world. This project also served as a first exploration into creating collages with painted canvas pieces.

PLEASE GIVE A TUT ON HOW TO MAKE PIXELS I AM BEGGING YOU
HKEGDUSHDGDGD okay this is gonna probably be really overexplained since i talk a lot BUT ITS VERY EASY tuto under cut
What i personally do is start on picsart with a blank canvas (make sure its a perfect square, anything like 700x700, 400x400 whatever), What i do is use some of the cute stickers i can find by using certain search terms and rotate/move it to each frame id want it to be, picsart lets u see where its centered or not so its a lot easier than just winging it
this would be so much easier to explain if picsart allowed me to take screenshots on this DAMN PHONE!
But anyway save each frame to whatever ur using and go to Ezgif.com's gif maker to combine those frames together :3 theres a delay option on the bottom of each frame u saved, i usually set that from around 50-80 so it doesnt go too fast

Once u set that and u have ur frames in order, remember to set THIS option

And then u click "make gif" at the bottom and horray :3 u can still edit things on the page if u might not like it
Once u get the finishing gif, u can save it as the original size (if youd like to have an extra), and go to Resize at the bottom

U should get to this, what i do is make the width and length 60x60 or 80x80 but it doesnt really matter tbh, if u want it bigger or smaller then go ahead

Disregard everything else after that and click Resize image :D and boom we did it
Both original and teeny size IF I DIDNT MAKE SENSE THATS TOTALLY MY BAD but i hope this helps😅😅😅 maybe..

What’s the smallest canvas size you dare to go with your pixel art
yeah I know this isn’t a drawing request, BITE ME
Personally, the smallest I tend to use is 50x50! However, I've done 20x20 before as well. :] Sorry I put this in my drafts to add the examples and forgot,,
These are some good examples of 50x50! -- You get a completely different effect from 80x80 - 100x100, so I don't do it nearly as much. But it's still something I use! It's more common for me to use this for detailed icons rather than full bodies, though!

Adventurer types [smug, sanctimonious, stoic, sleepy]
As it turns out, sprites on a 160x160 canvas take a bit longer to draw than ones on an 80x80 one.

ID: a pixel art portrait of Miss Holloway from Starkid's Hatchetfield series. She has pale skin, long and frizzly ginger hair, heavy mascara, a strong red lip, and a slight blush on her cheeks. She is wearing a pale, muted denim jacket and she's smiling at the viewer. The background is a dark red. In the empty space at the top right of the canvas the artist's signature reads "Moss and Pebble '24". End ID
This one was drawn for @heartandsol-0, who helped bring the Tin Can Bros' Tinlightenment fundraiser to live.

Technology has always had a unique attraction for people. The construction of the first flying zeppelins marked humanity's entry into a new space, with the creative power being emphasized by the depiction in red. The resulting painting is characterized by an intense reddish character. The scene of a “Zeppelin tour” presents a fascinating and surreal backdrop. The vibrant red color of the surroundings gives the depiction an extremely emotional presence and could indicate passion, energy and intensity. The “red trajectory” itself, on which green zeppelins float, could be thought of as a symbol of an exciting and challenging journey.

What are some rules that you set when making pixel art? Is there a certain limit the sizes of your sprites have to be?
I try to stay within 80x80, but that's mostly because I became part of the fakemon community around gen 4 and that was the canvas size back then. It got expanded to 96x96 in gen 5, although most pokemon didn't take advantage of that. But that's why I treat 80x80 as a guideline rather than a hard rule, since sometimes a design has really intricate details and that limits how small the artwork can be. Which is why we started getting designs like Talonflame as soon as pokemon switched to 3D models.
There also used to be a color limit, but again, gen 6 kind of threw that away. Imagine making a fully-shaded Xerneas with only 16 hues including the black of its outline and the white of its eyes. Inkay and Malamar have fucking opacity levels on them.
I've been told that my style is gen 4-esque, but I think that's just because gen 5 tended to be minimalist with shading. The trade-off for being easy to animate was that the actual quality of the sprites suffered. And gen 5 was the end of the line for pokemon sprites, so after then I basically had to evolve in my own direction since there was no more frame of reference for an "official" look.
